Storm Will Bring Snowfall To Parts Of Northeast Just As Spring Starts

Parts of the Northeast will see snowfall from a quick-moving storm that will come on the first day of spring.

The timing for the system, which is moving in from the Midwest, is Thursday night, March 20, into early Friday, March 21.

Most locations will experience mainly rain, showers, and scattered thunderstorms, with a mix of sleet and snow expected farther inland.

For a look at projected precipitation types by region, see the first image above from AccuWeather.

Between 3 to 6 inches of snowfall is predicted for areas shaded darker blue in the second image above.

According to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dave Dombek, "Except for northern New England, where it will snow and accumulate down into the valleys, this will be a higher elevation snowfall in central New England, parts of eastern New York, and even into portions of northeastern Pennsylvania, northern New Jersey and southwestern Connecticut."
